Childrens Jewellery: a gift fit for a princess!

MollyTry this; stop for a second, and just think back to all those fairy tales books you read as a child. Remember the first pictures of Snow White, or Sleeping Beauty?  There they were, pictured in their castle bedrooms, pulling out lavish strings of beads from their jewellery boxes, and draping themselves with pearls and rubies.

It’s a heady image – and which little girl wouldn’t want to look and feel like a princess, too?

Of course, the tradition of buying jewellery for girls starts at their christening, and, in some cultures, a first piece of childrens jewellery is given to celebrate a birth.

Delicate and tiny baby bangles in precious metals are often the first gift, sometimes inscribed with the new arrival’s name and their date of birth, but the choice is widening daily as designers offer new and exciting choices..

While the traditionalists might still opt for a silver locket, precious and contemporary jewellery that can be worn, loved, and treasured for life is fast becoming the norm.

Modern and designer styles that reflect little girls’ interests are increasingly finding their way on to the market. Pendants featuring teddy bears and ponies, ballet slippers and doll’s houses are available as examples of the goldsmith’s craft, and of course, the allure of a well dressed charm bracelet never wears thin.

Whatever you choose, though, bear in mind that your young recipient will keep your gift for many years – perhaps until she’s a mother herself, and she can pass on your jewellery to the next generation.

So, once you’ve chosen your sparkling present, it’s worth spending a few extra pounds for a pretty jewellery box to keep your gift in pristine, unscratched condition. And no matter what, on the day you give that little girl a piece of jewellery, and for years to come, she’ll know that to you, she’s a true princess. Just like Snow White.
